Question of interpretations
Posted by admin on November 2nd, 2007 filed in FaithToday I had a conversation with one of my co-workers. Something was asked of my best friend and I assumed the doctor asked her because she said that food needed to be kosher. The doctor asked her if she was another religion which i didn’t believe or know if they had the same practice as us. My co-worker is of that religion so i asked him. He said there where no dietary restrictions, but he that they did not do blood transfusions. I said “Oh really, why not. He explained that blood is sacred to G-d, and we are not to consume it.
I asked something like, isn’t consuming drinking it. He explained that it is still consumed through our bodies. I am not so sure, personally i don’t see nothing wrong with giving or receiving blood if if is medically necessary. Now if we are talking about drinking or eating it then I see it as a problem.
Plus if do not consume blood is a requirement for them, what happened to some of the other commands G-d gave us. Like the dietary laws, aren’t our bodies a temple of the Holy Ghost, so shouldn’t we be careful what we place into our bodies….
He did explain that their were other options, grant it I may want to choose the other options. I can see his view because when a person can’t eat they are feed through their vanes. I feel this maybe different then consuming blood.
