Moshe and Yeshua’s similarities
Posted by admin on November 4th, 2007 filed in Faith, SimilaritiesMoshe and Yeshua had many similarities in their relationship with G-d. Moshe was a mediator between G-d and the people of Israel. When G-d first wanted to have fellowship with his people, he told them what they had to do to prepare and gave them so many days to prepare for it. The people went and did as the L-rd commanded and then went to the bottom of the Mountain on that day he told them to meet him there.
After G-d had started to speak to his people they became fearful, they no longer wanted to hear G-d’s voice for fear they would surely die. They asked G-d for Moshe to be the mediator between them and G-d. This wasn’t G-d perfect will but he was willing to compromise with his people. He would have much rather teach them his ways, to walk with them daily and guide them. G-d said what they say is good. When Moshe met with G-d he had to wear a veil on his face, because G-d Spirit had radiated off of his face so strongly that the people couldn’t look at Moshe.
Moshe several times kept G-d’s wrath from meeting His people. Moshe once when G-d was going to blot out his people, told the L-rd No and that the other nations would think that G-d brought his people out to just kill them. Moshe went as far as telling G-d to blot his name out of his book of life.
In Deuteronomy 18: 15-19 Adonai will raise up for you a prophet like me from among yourselves, from your own kinsmen. You are to pay attetion to him, just as when you where assembled at Horev and requested Adonai your G-d ‘Don’t let me hear the Voice of Adonai my God any more, or let me see the great fire ever again if I do I will die. On that occasion Adonai said to me ‘they are right in what they say.I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kinsmen. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I order him. Who ever does not listen to my words, which he speaks in my name will have to give account for himself to me.
When Yeshua came he did speak the words of the L-rd, when Yeshua was baptized, G-d Spirit fall on him and proclaimed him. Yeshua, taught in the temple with no education and was asked where he learned. Yeshua only spoke the Words G-d had given him. He healed people and told a few of them to go and sin no more. He forgave people of their sins.
Yeshua is our mediator between G-d and man. There are many places in what Christians call the Old Testament where Yeshua is Foreshadowed. I believe Moshe was a foreshadowing because he was willing to stand between G-d and man, and because G-d had choose to use him to give the Commandments, and to teach the people.
Moshe also shows G-d compassion and his justice, Moshe did do a few things G-d did not approve of and G-d corrected him. One sin actually caused Moshe not to be able to go into the promise land during his life time.
