Hanukkah part 2

Some people believe this is a minor holiday but I do not believe it to be all that minor. This was a miracle; G-d caused the oil to last the 7 nights. We have 8 nights of Hanukkah. We light a candle for each night, so one the first night it is the servant candle and the first candle, and on the second night it is the servant candle and 2 others, and so on. After the candles are lit each night, we say 3 blessing on the first night and 2 blessing each night after.

The 2 blessing that are said are

We Praise You, Adonai Our G-d Ruler of the Universe, Who makes us holy by your Mitzvot (laws, commandments) and command us to light the Hanukkah Candles,

We Praise You Adonai Our G-d Ruler of the Universe, for the miracles which you have preformed for our ancestor in those days.

On the first night of Hanukkah we say

We Praise You, Adonai our G-d Ruler of the Universe who has kept us alive and well so that we can celebrate this special time.

Did you know Yeshua ( Jesus) probably celebrated Hanukkah too.

John 10:21

Yeshua was at the temple. This would show us that Hanukkah was celebrate by the Jews of that time.

During this time, the Pharisees tried to cause Yeshua trouble, like they had done many times in the past. Yeshua was there with his disciples, Yeshua was actually at the temple for all of G-d Appointed times, this leads me to believe he was also celebrating these times. G-d does not change when he told his people do this; he did not change it after Yeshua came. .

When studying the Word of G-d we need to remember back in Yeshua day they had two types of Law (Torah) the written and the rabbinical law. G-d gave us the Torah his law, we where supposed to follow his law but then the Priest and Rabbis started putting Fences around G-d word. They started telling people what it meant and how to follow it, and some of G-d law got a little unclear. If we are being lead of the Spirit then we will be living above G-d’s Torah and I am not speaking of the rabbinical torah. The Torah was G-d’s bare minimum exceptable behavior.

Hanukkah is celebrated to remember what G-d had done, to remember what had happened to the temple. It is a reminder for us to follow G-d’s words and to remain faithful to him. The Macabees where Faithful to G-d, yes they had to fight for 3 years but G-d brought them through. When they regained the temple the Oil lasted 7 days, not just the one day. Hanukkah started at sundown on December 4 this week. All of G-d’s appointed times start at sundown, the Jewish day starts at sundown.

I observe Hanukkah because it reminds me of G-ds Faithfulness and his mercies. Yes sometimes we need to struggle for a time, we need to fight for a time, but G-d is faithful and will remain by us guiding us if we will let him.

I believe many Christian have ripped their selfs off for not understanding or knowing G-ds holidays the days he gave his people. We should not be so busy trying to confirm to the world to make the world happy, we should be confirming to G-d ways and laws. Each year I have learned something new, I have gained a greater understanding of the Holidays G-d has given us. It is hard for me to say what I am thinking or at least to convey it through writing.
