Right vs. wrong

Today at work we had a discussion. I am not sure how we got their but we did. We where talking about break ins, and what we would do if it was us who where witnessing the events unfolding. The event would be our neighbor house being cleared out of all valuable items and food, basically the entire house like they where moving out, but this neighbor would be known to be out of town that weekend. My response was I would either call my neighbor and find out if they where having someone move them out, or call the police department and report suspicious activities.

Two of the girls I worked with said they would just ignore it, they would just leave it happened. One of the girls said well it could be part of their religion. Personally I have never heard  any religion which would say close your eyes to something that just does not seem right.  If I was to be watching one of my neighbors houses being cleared out, and knew they where out of town, I would be feel responsible for my neighbors house. I have done pet sitting in the past and took that responsibility serious, and would not have hesitated to contact them had something seemed out of place, and have been known to do that.

In Luke 10:30-

Yeshua tells a parable of a man who was robbed, he was stripped of his close and beaten and then lift for dead.

First a priest passed by this man and went to the other side of the road passing the man by. This priest ignored this man on the road who was in need of help.

Next a Levite came across the man and went to the other side of the road. This Levite did not do anything to help the man lying on the road beaten, he ignored the problem and went his way.

Then the Good Samaritan had passed this man seeing he was wounded and was in need of help he cleaned the man up, gave him clothes and brought him to a inn, so that he could be cared for the Good Samaritan payed for the guys needs for his stay at the end.

Yeshua said the third person was the true neighbor of this man. Why was he the true neighbor he took the time out of his day to help someone else, he made sure this man on the road was fine.  When the person Yeshua was asking the question of who was the neighbor, he answered the one who was showing mercy, Yeshua response was go and do likewise.

A few months ago we had a young woman be raped in her apartment entry way. No one from her building felt a need to help her, no one bothered calling the Police Department for her. Finally thank G-d a Muslim man happened upon this scene and helped her he called for help. I wonder how many people in that apartment building who heard what was happening and did NOTHING claim to be a Christian, I am sorry but I would have to question how true that belief is because they did nothing after being told by Yeshua to be like the Good Samaritan in Luke 10.

With the house having all the property taken out and not doing nothing is not very neighborly. I know if one of my neighbors saw something suspicious and did nothing I would be a little upset with them.  I would much rather a neighbor be made at me for looking out for their best interest then be made at me because I proved myself to be uncaring.
