Do you want to be healed
Posted by admin on December 24th, 2007 filed in Faith, HealingThis weekend my husband and I had Torah Study with an other couple, we have been doing this for a while. Our friends like me and my husband sometimes do not follow through and deal with problems. The mentality of if I ignore it it may go a way, or not looking at the whole picture. I and my friend husband we are similar in some of our approaches of looking ahead, but we are different because on most things I am more proactive. This weekend we hit on the topic of ” Do you want to be healed?” Yeshua had asked the man on the mat did he want to be healed.
Why would Yeshua asked, Do you want to be healed, and not just heal him out right. I believe he asked because we have to be open to being healed. If we are not open to healing, or we are closed to the idea, the healing does not work. Yes G-d can force his well, but we all know G-d don’t force us to do what is right. If he did he would not have given us free well.
One area I really struggle with not being proactive, is my wisdom teeth to the point of where know I have 3 teeth next to them that are broken with all four of my wisdom teeth broken. This is unhealthy for me but Praise G-d I have not gotten any infections from this stupidity. I believe the ONLY reason I am not sick, from this is because I been praying for a long time. For most of the 10 years I have had no dental insurance and we all know taking wisdom teeth out can be pretty costly. Another reason I haven’t dealt with this is I was told they have to break my Jaw. I have a real fear of breaking my mouth to get to some stupid teeth. It would affect my diet and make that even harder, I don’t care about the weight lost, because if I lose to much I can regain some easy enough. I care about not being able to sing.
My friend husband with medical problems have the same approach, I didn’t feel right in getting after him for not dealing with his issues when my dental issues which are health issues are being avoided and ignored with the hopes they just might go away. Do I want to be healed, I wish the L-rd would just let them all fall out of my mouth and be done with it, but sometimes his well is for us to go to a dentist. Maybe had I seen a dentist more then never in 10 years I would have any cavities to deal with neither.
Would Yeshua have healed the man on the mat if he said no. I believe he would not, why would Yeshua force him to be well if he wanted to lay and wallow as he is. The man was always beat to the pole that was known to heal people. He told Yeshua this, so it was clear that this man was probably trying to help himself to a point but was being unsuccessful. Yeshua told him to pick up his mat and go and that man was able to go, he was healed.
Sometimes in order for our healing we have to be healthy. If we have high blood pressure and not exercising, and eating unhealthy and eating a bunch of salty food, with not sleeping enough. Yes G-d can heal us but we need to also take care of our health. We need to be proactive in changing our eating habits and start getting exercise. It is known that Exercise is a good stress reliever, and stress is one of the things which can cause Blood Pressure to raise, so How can G-d heal us if we are unwilling to make changes which need to be made. G-d healed my Rabbi from some stuff early in his faith and I am pretty sure had Rabbi continue down that same path and changed nothing, he is telling my congregation the truth he would not be here today.
I think sometimes we look for healing but are not willing to put any work into receiving the healing we want to continue living the same life style when that life style is unhealthy. Today to finally make a first step in dealing with my dental problems I called a dentist and lift a message. I am not sure they will be open I know my best friend clinics open so maybe they will be to. I am done playing around with my health, and I figure if my insurance isn’t going to cover enough G-d will have to provide some how. I believe if we ask and we have faith even if it as small as a muster seed G-d can move. I am one who believes what Yeshua gave his disciples a long time ago he gave us to. I believe that most of the Church lost this because we stopped believing G-ds gifts where no longer for today that it was only for that time period.
