Is honoring your mother and father, having respect for them, and making sure their needs are provide. Is honoring them forgiving them when they have done stupid things like all parents do at some point.
I haven’t always had a very good relationship with my mom, I love her but I can’t say I really trust her. I will defend my mom when people are speaking evilly of her, or saying unkind things. When I know someone has hurt her, it angers me, and I will try to defend her as much as possible. Growing up there were several times my mom need protection. I can’t count the times I called the police to the house because of the men her in life. My mom made some bad chooses, which has lead us to a lot of hurt and pain. I have forgiven my mom for what has happened and seen her change and grow a lot in the last 15 years. I see my mom’s progress, and sometimes I will tell her.
Craig and I worry about his parents. We know we are to honor them, and make sure they are taken care of. Lately his parents have hit a stubborn block with everyone. Everyone they made their advisers they do not want to listen to us. They have pushed us all away and started attaching them selves to people who are taking advantage of them. We know they are doing this because they do not want to give up control. But if the people they are running to, harm them then they are giving up the control my husband and I and our neighbors have tried to make sure they keep. I love his parents, I want to honor them but at what point do we say honoring is making sure they are safe and making them angry with us at the same time.
Is honoring them making sure they are safe, and protecting them from people who would harm them.
