Listening to wisdom
Posted by admin on January 16th, 2008 filed in FaithA few weeks ago my husband and I had bible study with our friends. Sometimes we need to learn to listen to G-d wisdom and sometimes that wisdom comes with personal experience. My friends have been married longer then my hubby and I. I sang at their wedding, it was my gift to them because that was what the Bride had asked me to do for them. I had no problem, I got her something for her bridal shower, and I can’t remember if I gave her anything for her wedding. I was her Matron of honor for her wedding.
During that Bible Study we shared about things we would like G-d to provide for us, what we would like G-d to provide for us as a group and some of our spiritual and personal growth.
During this time we said our long term goals where to one day own a house. I personally would love to own a 3 to 5 acre property where I can have a garden and maybe horses, but we know this is not something we will be able to do anytime soon. My friends started talking like they where wanting a house to. My husband brought up that normally when buying a house they say you mortgage payment can take about a 1/3 of your monthly income. My husband from his experience says it should be no more 20% of your monthly income.
Most real estate agent will not look at it the way my husband does, and will try to push for a buy to spend a little more. My friends seemed pretty closed off to what my husband was saying even though my husband has learned this lesson from personal experience. Sometimes we need to be open to listening to G-dly wisdom so we do not get hurt in the long run. I have a uncle who is a agent I have never talked to him about what he thinks, but I am pretty sure he would maybe advise against spending that much money on mortgage.
