Learning from Experience
Posted by admin on January 22nd, 2008 filed in Faith, Taming the TongueThis weekend I had a conversation with a couple of women, we where talking about learning from our experience and from the experience of others people. Growing up right away at a young age I decided not to follow some examples of my mother or older sister, who I lived with most of my life. I also learned from some hard experience at school being a part of a family who didn’t always have enough money to have the things we needed, like food, water, or just things a family needs to live healthy. Growing up there were times that still bring me pain of the memory, and that is something I never want my own kids to face, when my husband and I have children.
We talked a little about parenting. I said we are not ready to have kids yet, there are to many things we need, and I don’t want to bring a kid in the family when we can barely support ourselves. One of the ladies said something along the lines of if you only look at what you have financially you will never have kids, it important to find a middle place. It important that the children are taken care of and caring for them is more then just with material things.
Many times believers have told me, I heard it a lot, when I didn’t know my real father. Often I would be told G-d is the Father to the fatherless. That is great if you don’t have a twist sense of father, or nothing to compare it to. I think father in a way have a harder job then moms because they are the ones their children will see G-d as. As we age we change, and we grow and learn from different experience, kind of like our life insurance rates sometimes they change as you age. Depending on your life style, you may end up paying more on it. What our lives turn out to be depends if we decided to learn from other people, either following their example or deciding not to follow their example. I know some of the hard lessons I did not learn, has helped me to have the personality I have. I also know some of my experiences where brought on because of other people choices. All of these things help us become how we are.
