Do animals have souls
Posted by admin on February 27th, 2008 filed in TorahDo animals have souls, many people would say no they do not, only humans have souls. I have always believed they do, because animals can learn right and wrong. Grant it most of what they, learn they learn from their masters. I would argue my cat Otis has a soul because he able to pick up if something wrong. He knows when I am sad and a few times when he gotten in trouble for playing to rough has cried. If there was no soul could he cry, could he show that he knew he was wrong. I believe our souls help guide us to where we aught to be.
My cat knows when my asthma has been bad, or when my breathing at night gets uneasy because my asthma has been triggered. Otis has woke me up a few times bitting me in my nose to make me wake up. When my husband is ill, Otis will stay by him sometimes, and will keep switching between the two of us at night. Otis would have to have some form of a soul to do this, yes the cats got brains but a soul is the thing inside you that helps you determine good and bad.
So where in the Bible does it say that animals have souls, would you believe my husband and I found a verse. Take a guess which one.
In Genesis 1:30 (Jewish Complete Bible) says “And to every wild animal, bird in the air and creature crawling on the earth in which there is a living soul, I am giving as food every kind of green plant and that how it was”
In the NIV it says breathe of life to these animals, G-d also said he breathed the Breathe of life into Adam. So I think this shows us that G-d has given animals the same things he given us except that he gave us authority over aminals.
My best friend was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, she has been experiencing a lot of pain from this, and can’t pick up Otis like she used to. Otis will climb up into her lap which he will not even do with my husband.
