Keeping commitments

Sometimes it is so easy to make a commitment with out thinking if there are any other commitments we have. My husband and I do bible study with a couple of friends, sometimes they or we will double book our selves and bible study is what get puts on the back burner.
I really try to make sure I am a person of my word, if I tell someone I will be somewhere I try to be and try to call them before hand. With the holidays my friend forgot to tell me that her family was in town and they couldn’t meet. I wish she would have told me before she did because I could have made plans with other people, who where wanting me to be there. Everything ended up working this weekend and maybe her forgetfulness help me receive my blessing of a new couch and chair. I talked to my friend who we do bible study for and we talked about not making commitments we can’t keep and not to agree to something when you don’t know if you can do it.
In the bible we are told not to make do this, we are to be people of our words. We are not to make a vow to anyone but to leave our Yes be Yes and our No be No. This is a area in most people I think need some improvement, we need to be people who do as they say and not turn around and do the opposite. The world watches us because they expect us to behave a certain way and one thing that they watch for is if we are people of our word. This is similar to investor relations you have to know that the person is of their word, that they will be honest and will not leave your investment fall through the whole.
