Faith and trust the same thing
Posted by admin on March 30th, 2008 filed in Faith, HealingLast night during bible study my husband said something interesting. I never really thought about it, the way he put it. We finish James last night, we read it in both of our Bibles, our Sterns Jewish Complete and their NIV bible. When our bible used the word Trust their bible used the word Faith. James 5:15, The prayer offered with trust will heal the one who is ill.
There bible used the word Faith. While reading this part of the bible a light bulb went off in my head even though I heard Rabbi talking about this area of James. It requires the faith of who is praying also, that it not just the faith of the one being prayed over. In a dictionary faith is often defined as trust in something. When we sit in our couch we trust that it will not break on us landing us on the floor. When we place our TVs on a tv mount we have faith that it will not fall off the wall. We trust that it will do it purpose.
Trust in a dictionary is defined as “reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence”. So if we have trust in something we put our confidence, in it.
Often times I have hard people told they were not healed because of their lack of trust maybe it wasn’t their lack or faith or trust maybe it was the person praying over them that didn’t have the amount of faith they needed. To be honest sometimes it easy to trust G-d, and sometimes it is very hard to have that faith that He will be there to provide and guide us through what ever it is we need help with.
