Thinking about Passover
Posted by admin on April 3rd, 2008 filed in UncategorizedEvery year it seems my husband and I are well struggling around Passover. Passover is about 2 weeks away. I enjoy passover for a couple of reason it reminds me of what G-d did for Israel and that he provided for them for 40 years in the desert. Grant it there rebellion caused them to wander around for that long, but even though they where being punished G-d still provided for them.
Passover we are not to have stuff in it with Yeast or other leavening agents. Leavening is looked on like sin during this time, plus it a remember of what was ate in the desert and what they where able to bring from there homes in Egypt because they did not have time to prepare bread how they would normally. It is thought that a little bit of yeast will boast up, and it is a example of sin.
Normally this time of year I try to get a good amount of spring cleaning done, I figure if I clean my house out of yeast, then I might as well just clean it throughly. The hardest thing about Passover is I tend to get into to much wheat gluten because of all the Matzah i eat, but normally I am careful. I will have to figure out some good dinners for my husband and I…
We, my husband and I see Passover also as a time to reflect on the things in our lives we need to repent of. I do not see repentance as just saying gee sorry, G-d and then continue on doing the behavior. I don’t know, but when I am struggling with things that people don’t like I do not apologize, not because I don’t care but because I don’t want to seem like I don’t care, I actually get annoyed when people apologize to me then turn around and do the exact same thing that they apologized for.
I feel unless the behavior is going to be changed then why apologize. I am not saying I do not ask the L-rd for help changing expecially when I feel convicted of wrong doing. I just ask for help changing and then work on that then after I have changed I will apologize. I think Passover is a time to look at those area in our lives, it is also a time to remember Yeshua to and what he did for us.
