Make it right
Posted by admin on May 22nd, 2008 filed in Faith, Healing, RepentanceMy husband shared with me something a few days ago. I won’t get into deep details about it but it has to do with stealing from people. He had a conversation with someone who had told him they had stole, and didn’t exactly know how to make it right. My husband had told him that he needed to repent and do retribution for what he had stolen. My husband is wise he is right when we do something wrong against someone we need to make it right. More unlikely if he stolen the people may not want to let him back on their property, I know I probably wouldn’t.
Lying and Stealing in my book are both the same, because when you steal from someone in a sense you have lied to them also, because your probably holding information or making up stories to protect yourself or someone else.
Now many people say G-d will forgive him and he doesn’t need to repent well lets look at what happened to 2 people who tried to lie to G-d in Acts chapter 5. What they basically did was steal from G-d, I see their lie as both a lie and stealing because they had said they gave everything up, so it is also stealing. I do not think G-d would have minded if they said we kept 10 percent to ourself. I am not saying that what they kept the bible don’t say how much they kept.
Acts chapter 5: 1 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. 3Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.”
Paul rebuked him for lying and then he died, the price back then was very steep for lying, and stealing. Ananias lost his life for disobeying G-d word. In the Torah, the 10 commandments he told us not to lie. Something tells me the Torah might still be relevant for us today too.
Later his wife came and also died for trying deceive the Holy Spirit.
My husband was sharing with me some of what he said to this person, that in order for him to have peace he needs to go and make things right with the people he lied or stole from.
Sometimes making things right is a lot easier said then done because people have the option of forgiving or being angry and not wanting them back around.
Holding information back is just as bad as doing the act for their self.
How do you make retribution you return that which you took. If you took their Audemars Piguet then you would want to return it or replace it with the same thing.
