I must be lost

Today, I didn’t have my advance Hebrew class, so I went and sat in my husband advance class. It’s a class for people who would like to be Messianic Rabbis. I wasn’t confused by their lesson, that was simple to follow along with. It was about controversies in messianic identity. He had touched on if the Sabbath aught to be celebrated outside of the Land of Israel, to be honest I don’t think I agree him.
G-d told us in the Torah what was expected, and think when he said you are to do this form one generation to the next, it doesn’t stop when they lift the Land of Israel. I think the Sabbath which is from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, was never changed to Sunday. On that note I don’t think it’s good idea for a church to suddenly go, oh we should be worshiping on the Sabbath, and then suddenly change everything with out instructing their congregation of why they are doing it.
Where I got confused was after class, there’s one person there who is very legalistic to a point of not making any rational sense. I am the type of person who will think on what a person says, and try to analyze it. Yes I am one of those Analytical people, and I sometimes tend to over analyze things. The person was saying that Sugar was bad, well yes if it’s if the person has to much. She was pretty serious about the M&M someone was joking with her about. I am not sure where either one of them got 666 from but okay. I think he was teasing her but because I am analytical sometimes jokes go over my head and I am lost. It’s not always a fun thing.
She had told us she don’t have a computer or internet access and wasn’t even willing to go to the library to use the internet, because it had the number 666. Now she had asked my husband to print out something for her from his research on line. Well, if it is wrong for her to be on the internet, why would she even want to have the stuff from my husband work, he got it on line. It had images on it. Considering I can’t find any where in the Bible that says don’t advance with technology, I have a hard time understanding this! I personally don’t see anywhere in the bible that says you can’t have pictures of friends or family. I do see where G-d says do not make any graven images.
In Leviticus 26:1
‘Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God.
There are several other places that talks about what to do with idols and not worshiping them. Okay I am not saying everything is okay to have because it clearly not.
Now a picture of someone family member, I see nothing wrong with it unless they are worshiping it or bowing down to it. Picture are reminders for us of our loved ones after they die, and most people are not worshiping their loved one.
Now if there is a cross with Yeshua hanging, bowing down to that I would see as bowing to a graven image. Bowing down to a statue of Paul, I would see as bowing down to a graven image. Why because G-d very specifically tells us not to bow down to graven images. We are only to bow down to him. So I can see where she gets the being careful with graven images but not where she gets the internet or sugar is evil and is a mark of the enemy.
Sometimes we are so careful of what we are doing and so legalistic that it’s a turn off to new people around us. It would be like buying some horse supplies even though you do not have a horse just so you could have it for in case you run into a horse.

One of the more serious hat’s I wear at HolyBibleTrivia. is the approving of submitted questions. This has lead me to the study of different versions of passages and ultimately Hebrew and Greek.

I found your your blog/website while researching on the internet. At first I thought G-d was a typo. After seeing it several times I was a little worried about it use and had to do some more research. ;)

Your article mentioned the women asking your husband to print an article off the evil internet. As an analytical person myself may I ask if you think the term G-d is being legalistic? Not trying to offend, just some good ‘iron sharpens iron stuff’. Without knowing better I was not clear if the term was showing disrespect, funny to find out it means the opposite.

All the glory to the LORD.(not shouting just showing respect) :)

    Thank you for the inspiration.

    hbt,
I take the O out of G-d because it is out of respect for Him. This is a personal conviction I have on my part. So, no I do not believe it is being legalistic, to be honest I just naturally type it that way. I don’t do it to offend or disrespect other beliefs, but I do it because it what I personally feel convicted about.

Now if I where to say everyone has to take the O out of G-d and it wasn’t okay to keep in in there, I feel this is legalistic. I believe when people become legalistic it’s not when they do things they feel convicted to do, but when they try to force other people to have the same beliefs as they do or act the same why they do. If someone leaves a comment on my page and doesn’t take the O out, most of the time I won’t edit it.

Many Jewish people I know take the O out of G-d out of respect for him. I know they do not want to use his name casually or lightly, and I feel the same way.
