Make the time
Posted by admin on June 14th, 2008 filed in FaithLet me start by saying I do not like reading out loud, and honestly I would rather not. I will read for my husband but that’s because I trust him and now if I stumble over a simple word he won’t make me feel stupid. I am doing laundry and had to go down to the laundry room, normally that’s only takes a couple of minutes if that. I got in there and someone was in there, looking at something and asked me what the hell is this. I looked over and said it looks like your medical insurance card.
Okay that’s simple enough, so I went back to putting my stuff in the drier didn’t think much more. G-d gives us the 10 commandments as a bare minimum of how we are to treat our neighbors. We are told to do good deeds and help our neighbors if there is someone in need and we have the means we are to do it. Now I could have easily played I can’t read, but I didn’t. This isn’t the first time I run into him and him not understanding what he got, I know he is not from here and I believe he maybe Muslim but that don’t matter what matters is he needed help understanding what he was reading. I am surprised that the only other language on his card was Spanish. I read his card, for him and he went on his way.
Sometimes our good deeds are as simple as helping someone read a simple small card or picking them up for church and not expecting anything in return. This type of witness is the loudest type of witness that I can think of and it means more then spoken words. When we stop and make time, we are showing the person that they are valuable, what they need is valuable.
Listening to the News, there is always bad things on like who was murdered or some guy decided to kill his wife and child. It gets depressing and frustrating to hear about this all the time and never hear about the good. Last night I was sharing with someone at church how I knew G-d was real and why I believed he was real. We where just sharing what our faith us meant for us. It was nice to be able to hear something good and have a bright spot of the week when through out the week it seems we are bombarded with sadness or sin.
Sometimes faith is like a treadmills , sometimes you grow fast and sometimes it slow like a good work out.
