Sabbath Part 1
Posted by admin on October 24th, 2008 filed in FaithLately I have had some problems in a couple of chat rooms. My Christian friends haven’t been very friendly to deal with but that okay nothing new there and well I forgive them. I do not expect them to follow the Sabbath the way I do, because I realize most do not know how the Sunday Sabbath actually came about. What I do know is what G-d said in Exodus I think the 7th day Sabbath is very important to him because he mad it clear in Exodus 20: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
I think this is important because he tells us he created for the first 6 days and then he rested. Why would G-d feel the need to give us this day of rest and then change it to Sunday, that don’t make much sense to me because G-d created the Heaven and the Earth. I have found many blessing in the Sabbath of G-d, more blessing then a good magnetic bracelet
I know some of my Christians friends will bring up the day of Yeshua resurrection as being proof of the Sabbath change, I disagree with this interoperation of scripture and will get to that in a little while.
G-d really must have felt this was important here is something I didn’t notice in Exodus until just now. I am serious I just realized this; I guess searching on the Sabbath might end up being fun.
Exodus 31:12, 12 Then the LORD said to Moses, 13 “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.
G-d says from generation to come to me this don’t make me think that he is planning on changing it once he gives us his Messiah.
Here just a few short verses later he repeats himself, not even a chapter a few short verse. I think when G-d does this he wants our attention.
14 ” ‘Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from his people. 15 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death? 16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant.
A lasting covenant to me this doesn’t seem to be one, which is going to change. Why would G-d stress it so much in the Old Testament and then turn around and change it on the day Yeshua rose.
