We’ve got the name right
Posted by admin on March 22nd, 2009 filed in FaithA couple weeks ago my husband spoke on the golden calf. Something I never realized until he pointed it out in scripture is that they called the calf by G-ds name and gave it credit for bring them out of Eygpt. In a sense they made a image of G-d in the way they thought he looked like, they made something to repersent G-d. This wasn’t wise because G-d had already told them not to do this, but as humans they got worried that their Moshe was no longer with them and was gone for a very long time.
G-d became angry with HIS people for this behavior, he did in the end give the people a choice to repent from their sin, and made away for them, to come back, this is probably why Aaron, Moshe Brother was not put to death with the 3000 people. Even though the people named that calf the same name and got the name right many still died. Just because we have the correct name doesn’t mean we are honnoring G-d when we do things he instructs us not to do. There are consenquences for sin, even though we can repent and ask Yeshua for forgiveness and make things right…
It’s not like a free car insurance quotes because there is insurance in Yeshua that far exceeds anything else. We as believer have to becareful when we are using G-d name to make sure we are not using it incorrectly or using it lightly.. I just wonder how many of us follow our traditions in the name of G-d which he never commanded us to do, no where in the bible do I see Yeshua changing to the pagean holidays but yet we believers have put his name on it. Personally I do not celebrate Easter or Christmas because I felt strongly convicted doing so was not following G-d laws. But I didn’t come to that conclusion overnight and it took a while. When I looked where these holidays actually came from I felt they weren’t to be celebrated by the disciples or first century believers.
