Show it to me
Posted by admin on September 20th, 2009 filed in FaithA while back I over heard a conversation and it bugged me. I walked away because I felt I would probably be very mean, about it. The guy was trying to tell one of our new musicians we weren’t doing christian music so it was okay because christian music should only be on beats one and three. I guess he doesn’t have very much knowledge in music because I have sang and played enough christian songs to know they are not always on beats one and three. The thing that bugs me is that some Christian believers have the nerve to come into our congregation and cast judgment on our worship.
David in the Old Testament is a clear example of someone who sang to G-d I don’t think G-d counted the beats and said not good enough, or what ever. Frankly I think music is something which if it worshiping G-d there is no right or wrong beat. Now that being said if a song was wrote to worship the devil clearly we shouldn’t take the music and try to convert it to being for G-d because it’s of the world. Music is something which takes on some of the tones of the world but I do not think it bad if something is at a different beat. I beat if you go to any number of churches or congregation in New Orleans Louisiana you’d find that you might not find a typical worship service.
Now I have looked for approved beats in music in the bible and Torah and I have not been able to find it. Maybe what we should be more worried about is not the beat of the music but what are those words actually saying, and frankly maybe if you can’t understand the words then there’s a problem. We are called to worship G-d and yes he tells us how but it seems he lift music to his creation choice of how they want to go about it to worship HIM. I am a strong believer if the person wrote it to worship G-d than it best not to criticize that person because it’s something that maybe G-d gave them or they simply had on there heart and we aught not judge their heart if they are not singing or doing anything wrong.
